PRC Pipework Replacement
The Christchurch Men’s Prison required the replacement of ageing copper and Fusiotherm pipework across multiple accommodation blocks within a live, high-security environment.
Working in partnership with Downer, Foleys delivered the plumbing scope under strict operational and security requirements, including Ministry of Justice clearances, controlled access, and detailed permit and tool management processes.
Innovative thinking was critical in delivering these works. Foleys implemented an alternative installation methodology to minimise disruption. Pipework was routed externally via roof spaces rather than within internal corridors and ceiling cavities, reducing the need for extensive builders’ works and allowing the facility to remain operational throughout the programme. This approach formed a key part of Foleys’ successful tender.
The works were delivered over a four-month programme, including staged shutdowns of critical services within restricted timeframes. The result was an efficient delivery that reduced operational impact while improving the long-term performance of the facility’s plumbing infrastructure.
