Recovering complex hydraulic services at Te Pae Christchurch
Te Pae, Christchurch’s convention and exhibition centre, is a large-scale public facility delivered as part of the city’s regeneration. Foleys was initially engaged by CPB Contractors to deliver inground services, including drainage, sewer, stormwater, and fire hydrant infrastructure.
As the project progressed, Foleys’ scope expanded to include plumbing, gasfitting, and design review following challenges with the initial plumbing delivery. Our team identified design issues, incomplete design documentation, and installation defects requiring remediation. Working alongside the project team, Foleys rapidly increased resources to complete remedial works, resolve design issues, and recover the hydraulic programme while maintaining compliance and construction progress.
The scale and complexity of the project required strong coordination across multiple trades, along with the resolution of design gaps and integration challenges. Foleys identified and addressed critical issues during delivery, contributing to the long-term functionality of the building. The project also included the implementation of specialised systems, including siphonic roof drainage and e-water cleaning and sanitising technology.
Foleys also supported the project’s Green Star objectives, providing input and practical solutions to assist with compliance requirements.
Through practical problem-solving, coordinated delivery, and increased resourcing, Foleys supported the successful recovery and compliant completion of the hydraulic services installation within a complex project environment.
