Why choose Foleys

Integrated trade services across New Zealand

Foleys brings plumbing, drainage, gasfitting, electrical, mechanical and maintenance services together under one contractor, simplifying coordination and giving customers one clear point of accountability.

From design and construction through to ongoing maintenance, our teams work together across the building lifecycle to support efficient delivery and long-term performance.

Beyond delivery

Foleys is more than a contractor

We support projects from early design stages through to construction and ongoing maintenance.

Our in-house design capability helps align design with practical delivery requirements from the outset. Once construction starts, our trade teams work together to simplify coordination, solve problems, and maintain accountability throughout delivery.

Our involvement can extend beyond the construction phase. Once the project is complete, our maintenance teams continue supporting homeowners, businesses and building owners to keep assets operating as intended.

Built on experience

Foleys was founded in Dunedin in 1934 as a family-owned plumbing business

More than 90 years later, we have grown into one of New Zealand’s largest multi-trade contractors.

Throughout that growth, we have continued to invest in our people, develop our technical capabilities and train the next generation of tradespeople. The professionalism, accountability and care that shaped the original business still guide how we work today.

Health and safety

Our workmanship, safety and compliance

As a member of Master Plumbers, and Master Electricians we are committed to delivering quality workmanship and professional service. Our team includes certifying tradespeople who provide technical oversight and ensure work is completed to the required standards and regulatory requirements.

For additional peace of mind, our workmanship is backed by the 12-month Master Plumbers Guarantee.

Health and safety at Foleys shows up in how we work, how we behave and how we deliver our projects, without compromise.

Whether we are working in a family home, a commercial facility or on a construction site, the same principles apply. We are committed to creating safe environments for our people, customers, contractors and the wider community.

Our approach is supported by strong safety systems, clear reporting and leadership accountability. Teams across the business participate in ongoing training, including regular toolbox meetings, stay up to date with legislative requirements and share learnings from across the business. From executive leadership through to our frontline teams, there is ongoing engagement around site-specific risks, hazard identification and risk management.

Foleys has a dedicated Health, Safety and Wellbeing team responsible for maintaining our safety systems and supporting continuous improvement across the business. We hold recognised industry accreditations including SiteWise, IMPAC Prequalification and Tōtika.

We take a practical and collaborative approach to health and safety. Safe outcomes rely on everyone working together, and this commitment extends across our own teams, commercial partners, subcontractors and residential customers.

Foleys is committed to continuously improving how we manage health and safety. Through regular training, engagement and review, our teams stay up to date with legislative requirements while strengthening the way we identify, assess and manage risk. We actively identify, report and investigate hazards, near misses and incidents to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.

Health and safety is a shared responsibility. We work closely with customers, contractors, subcontractors and other trades on site to ensure expectations are clear before work begins. Good planning, communication and agreed safety processes help create safer worksites for everyone involved.

Our teams regularly work within live environments including homes, schools, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings and operational workplaces. We understand the additional planning and communication these environments require and take a proactive approach to managing risk while minimising disruption to occupants, visitors and business operations.

Looking after the wellbeing of our people is an important part of our approach to health and safety.

Foleys has an established partnership with MATES in Construction; a programme focused on improving mental health and wellbeing across the construction industry. Through this partnership, our teams receive training to recognise when someone may need support and how to connect them with the right help.
